The transit of Venus

Did you happen to catch it?  It was too cloudy in Atlanta, so I watched a webcast online.  Here are some awesome photos courtesy of NASA!

On your drawing, match the statements to the beaks:

  • Vegetarian - big beak to grip and hold tightly, like pliers
  • to pierce or pick up insects.  Long and narrow
  • curved pliers, to grab insects, fruit, and nectar
  • big, strong sharp beak for large nuts and seeds

Fundraiser information went home today.  Please support RMS!  At least a portion of the funds raised will go to the care of our garden.  Stay tuned for another garden work day in the near future (especially since the weather has been so mild!).

Trying something new

In order to increase parent communication, I am attempting to start a newsletter.  This will hopefully keep everyone better informed and allow me to save time by not writing similar emails over and over.  Please visit this link to join the Science Scoop newsletter.  More subscribers will increase my effort to get out more frequent newsletters.  I hope to include what we are studying, exciting things in class, and general information.

There is also a tab at the top of the blog that will link directly to the sign up page.  Please let me know if you have questions.
